I Marmi La Faenza is a tribute to classicism, restyled through a seductive mixture of marble and onyx. Here, surfaces become everything with a heady, unrelenting experience of lines, veining and chiaroscuro that ravishes the senses.
An art dealer with a lifetime’s experience of beauty is asked to view an exhibition of an unknown artist at a new museum. Externally the building conserves its historic mood, but inside it is a post-modern riot of marble. Every room has a different emotional tone of grey, beige, red and white marbles. The dealer focuses on the first canvas, but his eye is caught by the elegant veining of the wall behind the frame. He moves to the second room, but there too, he cannot help but fall under the sway of the warm, beige hues of the floor.
It is an inebriating continuum of lines and chiaroscuro, a book full of stories, signs and symbols in which the focus is always marble. At this point the dealer’s senses are completely bewitched.
